If you have never had the pleasure of attending an Orthodox Jewish wedding then you are seriously missing out. It is a day filled with love and culture and excitement for the new couple! Naomi & Evan were so kind as to let us capture their amazing day and we were so honored to get to be a part of it.
The day began as we drove up to the ever impressive Wadsworth Mansion in Middletown, CT. It’s beautiful columns made for a great backdrop of our formal family photos and wedding party portraits. Jewish weddings are often packed with back to back activities so we made sure to get all the formal portraits for the day out of the way first thing! Once we wrapped up, guests were starting to arrive and we were ready to start the day’s activities.
It wasn’t long that guests were mingling, greeting Naomi at her Badeken and Evan who sat at the Tisch for the Ketubah signing. Soon the music started playing and all the men came out dancing in a line. Everyone was clapping and cheering along as Evan approached his bride to unveil her. After doing so it was finally time to gather everyone up for the ceremony!
And what a ceremony it was, both Evan and Naomi walked down the aisle with their parents on their arm. The cantor was singing beautifully and the wine was poured representing change. The ceremony had lots of beautiful speeches and prayer, finally ending with Naomi circling Evan seven times, completing their union. Then everyone was off! The music and singing began and everyone danced and joined the couple as they headed up to the Yihud together.
Guests mingled until it was time for the couple to come out of seclusion, separating into men and women to dance in large circles together eventually ending by bringing Naomi & Evan together. The fun had just begun as we heard speeches from the parents of the couple and then moved onto the Schtick! Loved ones came in and out of the circle of guests dancing and bringing out props of inside jokes. Everyone laughed and cheered on as a cardboard cutout of Evan’s beloved Alpha Romeo made an appearance!
The night continued with food and and open dance floor. We grabbed Naomi & Evan to enjoy some sunset photos outside before the night came. Finally ending the night with speeches from the best mand and maid of honor, moving finally into some prayer together. Naomi & Evan’s wedding day was certainly something to remember!
Congratulations again to Naomi & Evan!
