If you haven’t checked out the Overlook at Meehan, it is one of my favorite hidden gem venues. It is in Governor Notte Park in Rhode Island and has beautiful trees, rocks, it’s own private beach area, and a gorgeous open air stage to have your ceremony at. It is so versatile that not only did Eddy & Justine have their wedding here, we shot their engagement photos here as well!
We started their day in my favorite way, with a first look! We placed Eddy out of the docks in the back to await his bride’s arrival. Justine was so excited to Eddy that she didn’t even care when her train started to fall into the water! With first look done early instead of during the ceremony, that gave us oodles of time to get all the formal portraits taken care of, and boy did we! These two have such natural joy that each smile and look they shared is so comfortable and natural. We even knocked out all the family formal photos, and wedding party portraits all before the ceremony attendants even finished arriving!
With that taken care of, Justine & Eddy were whisked away to have some time to themselves and relax a bit before the big moment. Their guests arrived and got comfortable in the beautiful outdoors with some of the best weather we’ve seen all year.
The ceremony began as Eddy and his yellow shoed groomsmen walked up the path. Each bridesmaid was stunning decked out in soft blues, and Daisy the beagle stole our hearts as she was led down the aisle as well! Finally Justine & her dad walked down the aisle, meeting Eddy for a firm handshake and the ceremony began. Pastor Larry Smith did an absolutely beautiful job, ending with his signature style of commemorating importance with each letter of the couple’s names. We got to shoot the first kiss from the other side of the stage so that we could include everyone in that big moment and boom! Justine & Eddy are married!
Thankfully by getting all those formal photos out of the way early, the couple got to go party and mingle with all their guests during cocktail hour. While they got to have fun, we were getting candids and capturing all their reception details, including their STUNNING cake made by their close friend Alexa, complete with 3D prints of Justine & Eddy kicking butt as well as minis of their D&D characters taking down a white dragon!
Everyone cheered and clapped as the reception got started, introducing the whole wedding party and starting off the first dance. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house after the speech from Eddy’s dad and the Father-Daughter & Mother-Son dances. We were even surprised by an extra performance from Justine’s dad as he serenaded the couple with some help from his back-up vocals.
Dinner was served by not one but TWO food trucks outside, working their butts off to provide some of the tastiest tacos and perfect pizzas we’ve ever had!
Finally, with all the formalities done it was time to PARTY! Everyone blew us away with their dance moves, including a brief karate challenge as “Kung Fu Fighting” rang out. The final moment of the night with us was our signature night photo with a twist, literally! (Putting those new skills to the test they were the perfect models to try out our new light painting!)
We wished that we didn’t have more work in the morning as we said our goodbyes and Justine & Eddy surprised us one last time with custom cozy clothes with their names and wedding dates on the back. Honestly, if anyone needs help planning the most joyful, stress free, and straight up fun wedding, ask Justine & Eddy!
Congratulations again to Eddy & Justine, wishing you all the happy years playing Mario Kart together!
